Customer Testimonals
  • Had a great 3 day course with Neal and Brad who were the instructors , learned loads of good techniques on navigation , fire lighting , shelter building and loads more finished off with an excellent wee refreshing dip in a nearby gorge . This is the place to come if your serious about outdoor survival. Cheers guys

    — Graham Stewart

  • “I had an excellent weekend on the 3 day survival course. Lots of information and guidance from the highly knowledgeable instructors. Hard work but I highly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in any outdoor activities”.

    — Steve Boag

  • Perfect 2 day survival course – really got to go to my extreme. From building shelter over fire and water acquisition to navigation and hazard water crossing! Everything right to the max and Neil is great guide / teacher.

Thanks for the brilliant time and keep up the good work

    — Phillip Luther

  • I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life – I learned a lot, in the most beautiful of settings, with a knowledgeable and encouraging guide who also happened to be great company!

Winter in the Highlands is stunning… but it’s no walk in the park. If you’re thinking about joining one of our winter bushcraft or survival courses, being prepared makes all the difference. Here are our top tips:

1️⃣ Layer Smart, Stay Warm
Ditch the bulky jacket - multiple thin layers trap heat far better. A base layer, insulating mid-layer, and waterproof outer layer are essential. Don’t forget gloves and a warm hat, most heat escapes through your head!

2️⃣ Footwear First
Waterproof, insulated boots with good grip are a must. Cold, wet feet can ruin any adventure. Gaiters help when snow or mud gets deep.

3️⃣ Fuel Your Body & Hydrate
Winter burns energy fast. Pack high-energy snacks and a hot drink to keep going. And yes staying hydrated is just as important in the cold!

4️⃣ Invest in a Good Sleeping Bag
A high-quality, winter-rated sleeping bag is your best friend overnight. It keeps you insulated from cold ground and icy air, making all the difference for a restful night outdoors.

5️⃣ Mindset Matters
Sleeping out in winter can be tough but the right mindset makes it rewarding. Stay positive, embrace the challenge and remember: preparation is key. Confidence comes from knowing you’ve got the right gear and skills.

Winter courses in the Highlands are challenging but unforgettable - the scenery, the skills and the camaraderie make it all worth it. ❄️💪
