  • How fit do I need to be to attend a BCS course?

BCS courses are designed to appeal to everyone, however on all of our courses you will be physically active throughout, sometimes with minimum sleep, therefore the fitter you are the easier it will be. A robust mental attitude is essential on all of our multi-day courses. Certain aspects of the multi-day courses are run in a hill/mountain environment.

  • What equipment do I need to bring?

All kit lists from our courses can be found online under course downloads. If you are struggling to complete the kit list then please contact us and we will lend from our stores.
Note: On multi-day course you will be invited to leave equipment such as sleeping bag behind (weather dependant)

  • What food will I need?

BCS courses are designed to be as realistic as possible, for this reason there are no set meal times. On our one day and multiday courses there will be lessons on traps and triggers, foraging and game preparation/cooking. Please make your own provisions for food, which should be snacks, sandwiches, chocolate, nuts etc.

  • What if the weather is bad?

We never cancel courses due to weather conditions unless it is deemed unsafe to do so. Our highlands courses can experience harsh weather hence why the kit list is comprehensive. If it’s not raining, it’s not training……

  • How do I travel to a BCS course?

All joining instructions have directions for road, rail, bus and air. If you are travelling via public transport and have potential problems reaching the meeting point then local pick-up can be arranged, please contact the instructor on the joining instructions before the course start date.

  • Is there parking space?

Yes, all course meeting points are on private estates so there will be parking. Valuables and additional bags can be left in secure store rooms.

  • What are the age restrictions?

On our half and full day courses there are no lower age restrictions, however anyone attending a multi-day course or trip abroad must be over 18 or accompanied by an adult. Due to the challenging nature of our multi day courses the lower limit for a minor being accompanied by an adult is 14.

  • I have booked and paid for a course but can’t make it.

Please see terms and conditions. If you have to cancel due to injury or something that is out with your control then we may extend the course to you on a different date.

  • Can I cancel my course booking?

We do not offer refunds for booked courses however we can reschedule to another date.

  • Where is the Aviemore course based?

    Alvie & Dalraddy Estates
Alvie Estate, Kincraig, Kingussie PH21 1NE, United Kingdom

  • I bought a gift voucher, how do I use it?

Due to our commitment to the environment we no longer offer printed gift vouchers. In your confirmation email, you will find a gift voucher PDF attachment, this gift voucher is interactive so you can either enter the voucher code and voucher price then send by email or print.
